Psychodiagnostic Assessments for Adults

Have you been struggling with your mental health and you’re not quite sure why?

You may have spent years trying to make sense of your experiences, moving between different explanations—anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, burnout—without anything ever fully fitting. You may have tried therapy, coping strategies, or even medication, but still feel like something important is being missed.

Many adults we work with describe feeling overwhelmed in ways that are hard to explain. Some notice long-standing patterns in their emotions, relationships, or reactions that haven’t changed despite significant effort in therapy or self-work. Others feel that their challenges are layered and complex—where mood, focus, motivation, and emotional overwhelm all seem connected, but unclear.

It can also feel frustrating to function well in some areas of life while struggling significantly in others, without understanding why. Over time, this uncertainty can lead to self-doubt, exhaustion, and the sense that you should “have figured it out by now.”

When there is no clear understanding of what is driving your difficulties, it becomes incredibly difficult to know what will actually help. Many people end up cycling through strategies that only partially work—or don’t work at all—because the underlying picture has never been fully clarified.

A psychodiagnostic assessment can help bring that clarity.

Get the clarity you’ve been looking for

“My goal is for you to leave the process feeling more grounded, more understood, and more confident about what to do next”

A psychodiagnostic assessment is designed to help you understand what’s really going on beneath the surface of your symptoms, so you can finally move forward with clarity and direction.

The process begins with getting to know you and understanding the challenges you’ve been experiencing. We take time to explore your concerns in depth, including your history, current symptoms, and the patterns that may have been present over time. This step is important because meaningful assessment starts with a clear understanding of your unique experience—not just a checklist of symptoms.

From there, your clinician will develop a tailored assessment plan based on your needs. This may include a combination of standardized psychological tests and questionnaires that are carefully selected to explore areas such as mood, attention, emotional functioning, personality patterns, and other relevant domains. This individualized “assessment battery” helps us move beyond surface-level symptoms and get a clearer picture of what is contributing to your difficulties.

Once the assessment is complete, all of the information is integrated into a comprehensive report. This report provides clear answers about what is going on, whether any diagnoses are present, and most importantly, what steps will actually help. You will also receive personalized recommendations that are practical, actionable, and designed to support real change—not just information.

Your Questions, Answered

  • No referral is required. You can reach out directly to inquire about whether an assessment is appropriate for your concerns. We will discuss your goals and determine together if this is the right fit for you.

  • The process varies depending on your needs, but most psychodiagnostic assessments involve an initial interview, completion of questionnaires or tests, and a feedback session. The full process typically takes several weeks from start to finish.

  • If a diagnosis is appropriate based on the assessment findings, it will be clearly explained to you. However, the focus is always on understanding the full picture and providing useful recommendations, not just assigning labels.

  • You will receive a comprehensive understanding of your results along with personalized recommendations. This may include therapy suggestions, strategies, referrals, or other supports to help guide your next steps.

  • No. Psychologists in Ontario do not prescribe medication. However, if medication may be helpful based on your assessment results, we will recommend that you speak with your family doctor or a psychiatrist about suitable options.

  • Some portions of the assessment may be eligible for reimbursement through extended health benefits. Typically, the clinical interview and feedback session can be submitted to insurance, depending on your provider and plan coverage. However, the completion and scoring of standardized tests and questionnaires are not usually covered by insurance plans and are billed separately. We are happy to provide detailed invoices to support reimbursement where applicable.

  • The cost of psychodiagnostic assessments can vary depending on the scope and complexity of the assessment. We provide individualized quotes based on your specific needs. During a free consultation call, we can review what you’re looking for and give you a clear estimate so you know exactly what to expect before moving forward.
